This post is intended to help patients considering <a href=\"https:\/\/thames-dental.co.uk\/mk_staging\/teeth-whitening-kingston\/\"><strong>teeth whitening<\/strong><\/a> services or home bleaching kits to not fall victim to dangerous <strong>teeth whitening<\/strong> products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a recent episode of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b011f8m5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">BBC&#8217;s Fake Britain<\/a>, there was an investigation into unregulated\/illegal <strong>tooth whitening<\/strong>\/home bleaching products and services. This is becoming more and more common \u2013 not just locally in Kingston, London or Surrey, but in the whole of the UK. The episode revealed Fake Britain\u2019s investigation into illegal <strong>teeth whitening<\/strong> products being sold all over the UK, and the serious harm which these products cause. These fake <strong>teeth whitening<\/strong> products were sold in local markets, salons and shopping centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fake Britain\u2019s investigation found that some of the unregulated&nbsp;<strong>teeth&nbsp;whitening products<\/strong> available have up to 110 times the legal limit of hydrogen peroxide. Some illegal <strong>tooth whitening<\/strong> products can also contain a carcinogenic substance named sodium perborate, and others may have so much acid in them that they can dissolve the enamel (the outermost, protective layer) on the tooth surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The illegal <strong>tooth whitening<\/strong> kits use false advertising, including statements such as \u201c<em>See results from day 1<\/em>\u201d, \u201c<em>Safe to use<\/em>\u201d and \u201c<em>Recommended by dentists<\/em>\u201d, and have lured consumers into using these illegal products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fake Britain showed victims who had been instructed to use these <strong>tooth whitening kits<\/strong> overnight at home, and who then experienced the dangerous effects of such unregulated tooth whitening products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Symptoms of these illegal teeth whitening\/<strong>home bleaching<\/strong> kits can include, but are not limited to the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Burning gums<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sore lips<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dissolving enamel on your teeth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Legally,<strong> Teeth whitening<\/strong> products sold on the high street can have just 0.1% of hydrogen peroxide (the active ingredient in the bleach used to whiten teeth). There have been reports of fake dentists carrying out illegal tooth whitening procedures on patients and causing serious harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teeth whitening is not only a cosmetic procedure, but is a part of <a href=\"https:\/\/thames-dental.co.uk\/mk_staging\/dental-treatments-kingston\/\">dentistry<\/a>. Therefore, only a qualified and <strong>registered dental professional<\/strong> can legally carry out the treatment.
